WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Freeze and thaw cycles, de-icing salts and abrasives in climates such as we know them in Quebec put a strain on parkingdecks, especially those not resting on the ground. The so-called “122” law took the lead and included the mandatory and annual inspection of parking decks in the Safety Code of the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec, RBQ. In addition, every 5 years, the owner must obtain a thorough verification report from an engineer. This same in-depth check must also be carried out following any event (fire, work, etc.) that may have had an impact on the structural behavior of the parking lot.
This inspection only concerns multi-level car parks (underground or overhead), the objective of which is to detect any anomalies that could compromise safety or contribute to the development of dangerous conditions.
